ALL HOPE IS LOST IN NATURE (2022)
We humans try to control our surroundings, including the natural world. The global environmental crisis we are faced with now shows that our approaches don’t always work in our favour. Humans both stand in nature, as we are nature, but we also stand outside of nature in the sense that we can act upon and influence nature from a cultural position. In my view modern culture is moving us further and further away from our natural origin, our home. Through the ongoing, personal project ALL HOPE IS LOST IN NATURE I am trying to reconnect and explore my relationship with nature by looking at the unclear boundaries between myself, both as a cultural and a natural being, and nature. The title of the project is contemplating the idea that the uncertainty of our future on this planet is linked to our ability to communicate with nature.
