Following the Nile from Cairo to Aswan, these photographs trace a journey through landscapes, cities and fleeting encounters, exploring a place where the past remains deeply present.
Travelling along the river, I became interested in the traces of older ways of life that remain part of the present. Boats, agriculture, fishing and daily routines unfold alongside temples and landscapes that have witnessed centuries of history. These scenes made me look beyond Egypt’s ancient monuments and towards the ways in which its history continues to shape everyday life.
The photographs bring together the places, people and moments that stayed with me throughout the journey, from quiet scenes along the river to encounters with the people and landscapes that define it.
