In a world where idealized images are omnipotent, Nature puts up its own facade to request a share of attention. Just as the flawless faces of fabricated selfies, a result of the incessant chase

Earth is a wonderland in peril. Man’s narcissistic entitlement has led to relentless plundering for resources, destroying the fabric of our planet.

This series was occasioned by a random reading of a seemingly unconnected phrase which appeared on my facebook feed: “we are a sad generation with happy pictures“. It was coined by Chris Sacca, a billionaire venture investor of Twitter, Instagram, Kickstarter and Google, aimed at searing the social media addiction of people, their self-branding mania, filtered perfection, narcissism and superficial impressions. Their perfect portraits, that are consciously deceptive, emotionally taxing, unnatural and excessive.

In a world where idealized images are omnipotent, Nature puts up its own facade to request a share of attention. Just as the flawless faces of fabricated selfies, a result of the incessant chase for superhuman perfection, should be taken as uncanny and disturbing, by the same token, the alien beauty of the world in these photos, intends to direct us towards Earth’s concealed trauma, which requires emergence and healing.
