The Light That Stayed is my first photobook, exploring memory, love, loss, and family through photographs of my mother, grandmother, home, and everyday life. It is a personal attempt to hold on to what remains after people are gone.

The Light That Stayed is my first photobook, created from photographs made between 2018 and 2024. It began with a simple desire to photograph my mother and grandmother, but over time became a much deeper exploration of memory, family, home, love, and loss.

The book looks at the everyday life of the home I grew up in: its rooms, doors, courtyards, objects, clothes, meals, gestures, bodies, and the people who inhabited these spaces. Rather than creating a conventional family album, I have approached these photographs as fragments of memory. Some images are direct and intimate, while others are quieter and more ambiguous, reflecting how memories change with time.

At its heart, the book is dedicated to my mother and grandmother, the two people who became the reason I began making these photographs. It is not only about remembering them, but also about understanding how a person continues to exist through a place, a gesture, an object, or a particular quality of light.

The book is an attempt to hold on to these fragments without trying to resolve them. It is a personal archive, but I hope it also speaks to the universal experience of remembering someone who is no longer there.
