Hello “Soul Mate” is a photobook by Danish artist André Viking. Drawing on his own family’s photo albums and love letters sent by his father during a prison sentence, Viking creates a tender and fragmented portrait of memory and the hidden layers embedded within family archives.

Viking is not the photographer but the one who assembles and reimagines. By combining family photographs taken by various relatives with fragments of his father’s handwritten letters, the book raises questions about what is preserved, what remains unspoken and how stories shift over time.

Hello “Soul Mate” is a reconstruction of a private archive. It reflects on love, absence and the longing to piece together a past that cannot be changed but perhaps can be understood in new ways.
