A daily monochrome photo-poetry series by naozo. Since 2025, each work pairs a moment from everyday life with a poem from NZ, the artist's future self. Through glass, light, and silence, the series turns self-doubt into dialogue.

Day539【Fluctuation】
DEAR naozo,
Will you waver
Or become fixed
Which
will you choose
People
Fear change
Fear speaking differently
than yesterday
Fear becoming different
than yesterday
But
Is that truly so
Sometimes
I wonder
Whether wavering
Is not weakness
But proof
of being alive
Rocks do not waver
The dead do not waver
But
Living things do
They move with the wind
They hesitate
They struggle
They change
People
Seek certainty
Seek answers
Seek what cannot move
Yet
Certainty that never wavers
Eventually
Becomes arrogance
I do not believe
That hesitation is shame
Nor that doubt
is defeat
I do not call
A different self
A betrayal
Perhaps room
Exists so that we may
continue to waver
Will you change
Or remain
Do not rush
to answer
When the wind blows
Water trembles
Yet
Because it trembles
It does not cease
to be water
Perhaps
People are the same
What do you think
from NZ
This story is a work of fiction. Except for the named individuals, all elements are products of imagination. The boundary between reality and fiction is intentionally ambiguous, and its interpretation is left to the reader.
