A daily monochrome photo-poetry series by naozo. Since 2025, each work pairs a moment from everyday life with a poem from NZ, the artist's future self. Through glass, light, and silence, the series turns self-doubt into dialogue.

Day530【Absence】
DEAR naozo,
Many will tell you
Do not lose it
Yet
Some things
Can only be seen
After they are gone
A familiar landscape
Is completed
On the day it disappears
A familiar voice
A familiar hour
A familiar presence
People
Often understand them
Only after loss
Absence
Is not emptiness
It is the weight
Of what once existed
Becoming visible
Just as light
Is known through shadow
Existence too
Receives its contour
Through absence
It is not
That we cannot forget
It is that
Forgetting would mean
Losing part of ourselves
So
People reach
Toward the past
Knowing they cannot return
They call out
Knowing no answer will come
Is that attachment
Is that weakness
I do not think so
If something lost
Still moves the heart
Then perhaps
It has already become
Part of who we are
People
Are not shaped
Only by what remains
Sometimes
They are shaped
By what is absent
So
You do not have to forget
You do not have to erase it
Carry it
And keep walking
If absence creates presence
Then perhaps
Eternity
Is not what never disappears
But what remains
Even after it is gone

This story is a work of fiction. Except for the named individuals, all elements are products of imagination. The boundary between reality and fiction is intentionally ambiguous, and its interpretation is left to the reader.
