Discover all the winners from our first initiative in partnership with the African Artists’ Foundation that aims to support and promote a new generation of photographers and visual storytellers from Africa.

This summer we organised a free open call to discover new projects and photographers from Africa. Our intention was not only to learn more about the contemporary photography scene across the continent, but also to support artists using photography and photographic processes as a medium to create open conversations grounded in pressing issues facing our world today.

A jury comprised of African Artists' Foundation's Nguveren Ahua, Benson Ibeabuchi and Ugochukwu Emebiriodo and PHmuseum's Giuseppe Oliverio and Rocco Venezia awarded the prizes. Lina Geoushy (Egypt), Ọlájídé Ayẹni (Nigeria), and Hana Gamal (Egypt) were granted a Story of the Week feature that will be promoted on PHmuseum's News and Stories sections as well as across social media.

Ayomitunde Adeleke (Nigeria), Jean-René Wilfer Amon (Ivory Coast), and Ayomide Olufawo (Nigeria) will each have access to a free portfolio review with a mentor of their choice from our Online Educational Program, in which they can discuss their work and career and receive valuable feedback. And finally, Cole Ndelu (South Africa) will have the opportunity to take over PHmuseum's Instagram account and present her work to our audience of 36,000+ people over four days. Below you can see a preview of all their projects.

We're still working to improve our knowledge of projects and photographers from countries that are under-represented in the industry. If you are a photographer or artist please do create a PHmuseum account and upload your projects. You can also get in touch with us at info@phmuseum.com.
