SCAN Tarragona

SCAN promotes the fusion of photography with other disciplines, aiming to explore new forms of expression in the vast and boundless realm of art.

Overview

SCAN Tarragona International Photography Festival offers the public a transversal and inclusive program of exhibitions, screenings, conferences, and workshops. This year, SCAN celebrates ten editions, reflecting on the theme Traces: understanding photography as a reliable document.

The festival hosts creators using photography as a means of expression from all over the world through more than 40 events such as exhibitions with guided tours and workshops.

Highlighted features include the photobook exhibition "This Story Will Never Get Finished," uniting approximately 30 national and international photography books. Among the new features for 2023, SCAN launched Òcul, the festival podcast that reflects on photography in depth, available on Spotify. For the 10th edition, the festival and the Arxiu Històric de la Ciutat de Tarragona also launched the first Artistic Creation and Research Residency, where Tatiana Donoso, Cris Bartual, and Jorge Alamar have the opportunity to develop artistic and research projects.

For January and February, some parallel activities are scheduled, such as guided visits to the exhibitions, workshops, conferences and talks with Eugeni Gay Marín, Dani Pujalte, Irma Estrada, Teresa Ibars, Núria F. Rius, Albert Gusi, Natasha Christia, and Laura Ben Hayoun.
