A biennial initiated in 2005 by the 10th Arrondissement Town Hall and the Château d’Eau library, the event presents exhibitions by emerging and professional photographers in various locations throughout the arrondissement.

Overview

From the Town Hall to the garden gates, the RP10 offers visibility to the eighth art (photography) during a month packed with events: conferences, screenings, workshops, and evening events are organized throughout the duration of the biennial. The RP10 exhibits in open-air and public spaces, always aiming to make art accessible to all and to allow for a confrontation of perspectives.

Driven by the Fetart collective, which passionately and committedly handles the artistic direction, this emblematic biennial celebrates contemporary photography and its talents, whether recognized or emerging, by taking over the entire arrondissement. Galleries, libraries, bookstores, as well as community centers, bridges, and gardens: so many essential everyday places in the 10th that will vibrate in unison for a month and a half, bringing art directly into everyone's line of sight.

In a world marked by social, ecological, and political upheavals, artistic creation remains an indispensable space for breathing, questioning, and fostering connections between individuals and territories. It is in this spirit that the Rencontres photographiques du 10e arrondissement (10th Arrondissement Photographic Encounters) have taken place for 22 years, with the last 5 editions organized by the Fetart* collective. This 2025 edition strongly reaffirms the energy of contemporary photography, both as an artistic practice and as a tool for understanding and critiquing our societies.

At the heart of a cosmopolitan arrondissement, where evolving urban life and migratory narratives intersect, the Rencontres photographiques du 10e offer fertile ground for photography. Inside the Town Hall, the biennial highlights the work of eight photographers—laureates of our call for applications: Chloé Nicosia, Guillaume Blot, Mahka Eslami, Chia Huang, Maxime Riché, Emeline Sauser, Nathyfa Michel, and Elsa Leydier—whose works powerfully question contemporary issues such as ecology, identity, and memory.

This year, the Pont Saint-Ange will prominently feature contemporary Brazilian photography through the works of five artists, creating an open-air dialogue between engaged perspectives, new narratives, and poetic power, echoing the multiple realities and cultural diversity of Brazil. Featured artists include Shinji Nagabe, Lalo de Almeida, Jose Diniz, Federico Rios Escobar, and Moara Tupinambá.

By taking over galleries, community centers, cultural institutions, and public spaces, the Rencontres photographiques du 10e affirm that art, even in uncertain times, remains a vital act of sharing, transmission, and transformation.
