Harmattan - Togo Photo Festival

Harmattan – Togo Photo Festival aims to provide international visibility and create new opportunities for emerging photographers from Togo and West Africa.

Overview

Emerging from intangible realities made of overexposures, rapid movements, but also static and eternal poses. The photographic gaze plays with reality to predict the future. Images inspired by surrealism merge the symbols of ancient traditions with the everyday. The dialogue with ancestors and the oldest rituals remains ever open, like a family album that is never closed.

Harmattan believes photography is a powerful tool: it tells stories, bridges ancestral traditions and future visions, and contributes to an innovative and vibrant African art scene. Through exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses, street encounters in the city of Lomé (Togo), and networking opportunities for artists and creatives from all over Africa and Europe, the festival aims to spark creativity, stimulate visual research, and connect diverse perspectives.

Exhibiting artists are Tessilim Adjayi (Togo), Parmenas Awudza (Togo), Delali Ayivi (Togo/UK), Zododo Ekue & Elise Beltz (Togo/France), Fo Kwesi (Togo), Lina Mensah (Togo), Ras Sankara (Togo), Koffi Djifa Seble (Togo), Enok Tsevi (Togo), Wody Yawo (Togo), Kadessi Alassani & Ana Veronica (Togo/UK/Colombie), David Nana Opoku Ansah (Ghana), Ishola Akpo (Bénin), Federica Landi (Italie), Nicola Lo Calzo (Italie/France), Malick Welli and Charlotte Brathwaite (Sénégal).

Harmattan doesn’t end in Togo. The artists’ works will be collected in a catalog and the festival will turn into a traveling exhibition — starting in Milan and moving on to other European cities.
