The first Freezer International Photography Festival arrives on November 23 and 24, at Casa Unclan in La Plata, Argentina.

Overview

With a rich program including an editorial fair, projections, workshops, open lectures and VJ books, the first edition will have as its theme Apertura (Opening): a space for meeting and transoceanic photographic exchange. The festival wants the image to become a bridge for mutual support and new interconnections.

The Opening is more than a technical or aesthetic concept: it is a call to open ourselves to the unknown, to narrate our ways of being in the world, and to share diverse visions. At a time when isolation, hate speeches and uncertainty seem to be gaining ground, this festival proposes to generate a common space that unites us.

Through friendship and exchange between artists from different parts of the world, Freezer Fotofest seeks to build solidarity networks that defy economic limitations. It is an invitation to think of art not only as an individual work, but as an intergenerational and global conversation.

Based in the city of La Plata, Freezer is a project coordinated by Luciana Demichelis that is linked to research, training and encounter based on the photographic image. They create courses for those who are just starting out and for those with previous tools who want to think, strengthen and produce new proposals based on their visual imagination. They also produce events and web content where our participants will be able to show their curated works in the course of the workshops.
