Fiebre Photobook Fest XII

The Spanish photobook festival is back with its 12th edition, presented by Fiebre Photobook and La Casa Encendida.

Overview

Fiebre Photobook is the first festival in Spain specialized in photobooks. Reinforcing from the beginning its function as an international and essential meeting point for creators, students, professionals, collectors and the general public who share a great passion for this format.

Fiebre arose within Blank Paper Escuela in Madrid, as a result of the need to create a meeting between independent and consolidated publishers, emerging authors and those with a longer trajectory, professionals of the medium such as curators, editors or technicians, always with the idea of generating networks and broadening the audience.

The BookMarket is the main axis of the event, which brings together small and large publishers, independent imprints, distributors, specialized stores and self-publishers with the aim of showing their novelties, exchanging opinions and getting to know each other.

A space for discovery, exhibitions are a place where new readers can approach the photobook for the first time at their own pace, and where a vibrant showcase of recent and inspiring proposals unfolds. This year they celebrate the effervescence of the Chilean photobook, take the step from paper to screen with moving filmbooks, and, as in every edition, open a space for dummies that point to the future.

Activities also include workshops such as practical and training sessions that delve into the creative process of the photobook. From editing to design, including self-publishing and visual narratives, Fiebre’s workshops provide concrete tools to shape personal projects and open up new perspectives.

Additionally, meetings, talks and presentations make the event a lively and participatory space. An opportunity to discover new voices, listen to established authors, and share the passion for the photobook in a welcoming, open environment for all ages.

The team is currently formed by Miren Pastor, Bonifacio Barrio, Paula Dávila, Olmo González, and Daniel Mayrit. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Community of Madrid, the AC/E Program for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture (PICE), Bestalde Studio, Artes Gráficas Palermo, La Troupe, Dalpine, the Photobook Club Madrid, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UCM, Fotocasión, Punto de Fuga and Clavoardiendo.
