The Festival de Fotografia de Paranapiacaba (FFP) arose from the desire to celebrate the image as an experience of encounters permeated by Education, Human Rights and the Environment.
Overiew
Since 2018, when it debuted in the historic village of Paranapiacaba, the FFP has been closely connected to the territory that hosted it.
For Paranapiacaba, which has this photographic vocation - a photogenic village that occupies public spaces with art and photography, FFP is an important moment for the debate of ideas and a meeting point for national and international photographers.
In each edition, a theme is discussed that is always based on issues related to Education, Human Rights and the Environment, using photography as a tool for Visual Literacy and approaching other issues that are relevant to society and the Vila community, such as sustainability, memory and heritage.
Educational in nature, the photography meeting has a program of debates, visual literacy meetings, exhibitions, screenings, portfolio readings, workshops, a photography fair and book launches, always bringing together invited people who reflect the plurality of Brazilian gender, territory, socio-cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
The Festival has always been the voluntary work of photography lovers and guests who share their experiences and knowledge, disseminating cultural diversity and helping to improve and shape critical thinking. The focus is on building bridges and dialogues with the community in search of a more democratic, peaceful, tolerant and socially just world.
