Athens Photo Festival 2024

At the heart of the Athens Photo Festival lies a multi-layered program of events and year-round activities, encompassing education and public programs, talent development, engaging in social practices, and community outreach initiatives.

Overview

Athens Photo Festival, a leading international biennial event, is dedicated to celebrating photography and visual culture. Ιts programming provides a platform for the exchange of ideas and artistic expression, and engagement with a wide range of photographic practices. Their program creates a critical context where the impact of the ever-changing visual culture can be raised and discussed. The Festival will showcase the work by both emerging and established photographers from around the world, through its exhibitions and events, with the aim to reflect the diversity of photography of our time.

Directed by Manolis Moresopoulos, the 2024 edition will take place in June and July at the Benaki Museum / Pireos 138 and at various other locations across the city, featuring over 100 artists from all corners of the globe, selected through an open call process. Beyond the exhibitions, the Festival offers a program of events and initiatives, encompassing educational activities, networking and talent development opportunities, community outreach, and a variety of public programs.

For its new edition, the Greek festival is delighted to announce its inaugural Book Program (APhF BP), curated by Sylvia Sachini, built around three pillars: the APhF Dummy Award feat. Witty Books, which provides production support of up to €15,000 to the most promising photobook dummy from around the world; the APhF Pick:24 Book Award, which is all about offering valuable recognition and exposure to the best photobooks published in the past twelve months; and Unfolded Chapters, a curated exhibition celebrating already released works that deserve a second time to shine for a new international audience.
