The festival offers a unique opportunity to discover, explore, and experience contemporary photography, establishing Barcelona as a key meeting point for photographic art.

Overview

Art Photo BCN is once again preparing to bring together the photographic community and open its 12th edition to the public, taking place from May 23 to 25, 2025, at the central hall of Disseny Hub Barcelona. During a month and a half of activities, from late April to the main weekend in May, the festival will transform the city into the photography capital, with a program designed to promote knowledge and enjoyment of the photographic medium for professionals and the general public alike.

On Saturday, May 24, nine selected projects will be the highlight of a portfolio review session from which several awards will be derived. For the first time, this content will be presented in a public session hosted by Carmen Dalmau, who will deliver an enriching talk as part of the official program of activities open to the public. This event promises to be a hub of creativity and an exchange of ideas. Selected artists are Carla Oset Vilanova, Caroline Kist, Elena Bulet i Llopis, Eva Casanueva, Filippo Poli, Javier Arboledas, Joel Jiménez Jara, Lucía Morónm, and Skander Khlif.

The Art Photo BCN Fair is the heart of the festival, a dynamic space where galleries, publishers, and photographers present the best of contemporary photography from around the world. With a special focus on photography, Art Photo BCN stands out for its dedication to this medium, creating an environment that encourages both the acquisition of photographic works and the dialogue between artists and collectors. Curated by Isabel Lázaro, the fair program is designed to offer a comprehensive experience, from showcasing works by emerging photographers to the sale of limited editions and innovative projects.

The Photobook Market is a space dedicated to photographic publishing and photobook, bringing together publishers, authors, and photography book enthusiasts in a unique setting. Curated by Ana Benavent, the market is distinguished by its focus on the quality and diversity of editorial proposals, presenting a carefully curated selection of the best contemporary photobooks. This space is an ideal platform for discovering new voices and trends in editorial photography, as well as for acquiring exclusive and limited-edition books.

Among the workshops program is The Eye Of The Hurricane with Oleñka Carrasco unearthing the narratives that lie behind each image. Whether it’s a single shot or an entire series, for Oleñka, there is always a story—either evident or latent—that breathes life and organicity into her images. In the Puzzles And Jigsaw workshop, led by Elena Almagro, children will explore architecture and visual composition from a playful and experimental perspective. Through interactive games and dynamic exercises, participants will learn to observe their surroundings in a new way, working with image fragmentation, layering, and assembly.
