IN HER SHOES is a multifaceted project exploring the relationship between women and clothing. The research takes shape through an investigation of digital archives, which today play a significant role in promoting and disseminating visual culture.

Metaphorically speaking, clothing is a memory of identity, in terms of both the traditions and techniques that determine its material characteristics and the social role it plays from generation to generation. In this way, clothing becomes a privileged space that oscillates between the material and the collective imagination.

The project takes shape through an extensive exploration of photographic and museum archives, which play a fundamental role in disseminating visual culture, especially now that entire collections have been digitalised and promoted. Access to images in the public domain enables creative exploration of collective memory and offers the opportunity to develop educational projects and programmes that are essential for passing on history to future generations.

IN HER SHOES is a visual and narrative atlas created by simulating the processes of textile regeneration: In a historical moment characterized by the overproduction of images, as well as clothing, archival research and the selection of public-domain images generate a narrative capable of reflecting on opportunities for the enhancement and sustainability of visual culture.

With this project, the artist encourages viewers to explore the lives of women, as expressed through fabric and garments that are sometimes imposed and sometimes chosen freely with awareness and irony.
