Void is calling for artists from (or living in) Greece, Bulgaria or Cyprus to join FUTURES. Void’s talents will have the opportunity to showcase their work on an international stage and contribute to a community of like-minded peers.

Overview

Void is a member of FUTURES Photography Platform, which was founded in 2018 and is supported by the EU culture programme Creative Europe. We are more than 20 member institutions from all over Europe within the photographic field. Among the members are prominent institutions like FOMU, PhotoIreland, Fotofestiwal Lodz, Camera Torino, Copenhagen Photo Festival and many others.

Each year, every platform member nominates five new talents to join FUTURES, and as of 2024, it has gathered over 400 talents. FUTURES offers the means to enhance the careers of lens-based artists through various activities, such as promotion, individual portfolio reviews, network meetings, online learning programs, tutoring sessions, and more.

Practical Info

Applicants must be from (or live in) Greece, Bulgaria, or Cyprus. They are either educated within the field of photography/art or their CV presents a continual professional experience within the last 3 years (since 2021), e.g. participation in an exhibition or publication. Submissions must be sent as a single PDF to studio@void.photo and include a CV, a short bio, a short artist practice description, one paragraph short text about the applicant's motivation for being a FUTURES talent, and 10–20 photos of a project that best describes their practice.

Each selected artist will receive a €500 fee, will have the chance to attend conversations with experts and will be invited to the annual event held during Tbilisi Photo Festival in Georgia, September 2025 with travel and accommodation fees covered. In addition, artists will have the possibility to participate in the call for the Annual Exhibition (that travels through some members in Europe), to access to an online learning program with Magnum Photos, and more.

About VOID

Established in 2016, the project is driven by its founders Myrto Steirou and João Linneu. In the Void catalogue, you will find the debut books of photographers in their first career steps side by side with established artists such as Yorgos Lanthimos and Olivia Arthur. Despite commercial challenges, they stick to their mission of fostering young blood — having revealed so many talents and launching some of their career-defining titles.

About FUTURES

Co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union from 2017, the FUTURES Photography Platform pools together the experience of leading photography institutions across Europe to increase the capacity, mobility and visibility of its selected artists. By bringing together a wealth of resources and curatorial expertise, each talent selected by the Futures members gains access to an unprecedented international network of professionals as well as new markets and audiences. Currently, the platform has 20 member institutions across Europe, who are invited to nominate artists to join the platform each year.
