The Barcelona International Human Rights and Global Justice Photography Award invites photographers worldwide to submit projects addressing human rights and global justice for exhibition across the streets of Barcelona.

Overview

The 6th Barcelona International Human Rights and Global Justice Photography Award is now open for submissions. Organised by Más Retina, the international open call welcomes professional and amateur photographers from around the world whose work explores issues of human rights, global justice, and gender equality through photography.

Ten projects will be selected by an international jury and presented as large-format outdoor exhibitions across Barcelona's ten districts during the BCN-DH International Photo Festival, held from 1 December 2026 to 10 January 2027.

Practical Info

The open call is open to professional and amateur photographers aged 18 or older, regardless of nationality. Participants may submit multiple projects, each consisting of 15 photographs, with at least seven images produced during 2025 and/or 2026. Projects must be submitted in one of four categories: Social Justice, Climate Justice, Gender Justice, or Economic Justice. Applications must include a project synopsis, image captions, and be submitted through the Picter platform. AI-generated images, photomontages, and significant digital manipulation are not permitted.

The jury will select 10 finalist projects, all of which will be exhibited in public spaces throughout Barcelona and published in the festival catalogue and magazine. The overall prize reicpient will receive a €3,000 cash prize, while the winners of the remaining three categories will each receive €400. The festival covers all exhibition production costs.
