Overview
Photo books are an important part of the photographic field and can take many forms. With the photo book grants, the Hasselblad Foundation aims to support and contribute to the development and publication of photobooks.
Practical Info
The grants are open to all professionals working with photography, including photographers, artists, curators, researchers, and writers. Only PDFs are accepted, with no need to send a physical copy of the photobook dummy. The grants are exclusively for publications that have not yet been released. The submitted work can be unpublished, self-published, digitally published or produced by print-on-demand, e.g. blurb. photobook pdf. Applicants must upload the cover or a photo of the physical dummy as JPG on the upload section.
Preference will be given to projects that meet one or more of the following criteria: collaborations with researchers or research institutions, publications with a focus on social issues and social engagement, innovative design, a conscious stance on environmental sustainability.
Two grants of SEK 100,000 (€8,800) each will be awarded in 2025. Book projects that receive a grant must mention the Hasselblad Foundation as a co-funder, and the book must include the Hasselblad Foundation’s logo somewhere in the book. The Hasselblad Foundation must receive five signed copies of the published book.
Plus, the author(s) of the book must be ready to participate in activities organized by the Hasselblad Foundation related to the grant, such as an award ceremony and other events.
About The Hasselblad Foundation
The Hasselblad Foundation was established by Erna and Victor Hasselblad in 1979 with the aim of supporting research and academic teaching in the natural sciences and photography. This is achieved by awarding grants and stipends to the natural sciences and photography, the Hasselblad Award and stipends and grants to research projects in photography.
