Safelight Paper Solo Shows - Berlin

Safelight Paper invites emerging contemporary photographers to submit their work to be exhibited during 3 separate SOLO SHOWS at Safelight Berlin, each during 1.5 months.

This open call doesn't have a specific theme : all style and type of photography are welcome to participate. All photographers, regardless of age (must be at least 18+), nationality, and level of experience can send their projects. It is also open to worldwide submissions.

Single series is appreciated but a selection of diverse works, or single pictures, is also accepted. We publish what we call 'Slow Photography', which refers to a more mindful way of creation : we value the story and message more than the medium itself. Both analog and digital photography are accepted.

PRIZES :

We will select 3 winners that will each be exhibited during 1.5 months at Safelight Berlin. An opening evening will be organised.

- December 9th, 2023 to January 20th, 2024

- January 20th, 2024 to March 2nd, 2024

- March 2nd, 2024 to April 20th, 2024

*opening days might slightly evolve in case of other major art/photography events in Berlin on a similar evening

The exhibition takes place in the main room of Safelight Berlin, a photography store. During the launch event, the room is emptied to act as a gallery. During the rest of the exhibition, the room will go back to its original setup with the pictures on the walls. It will also come with a full article on safelightpaper.com and shared on both Safelight Berlin / Safelight Paper instagram.

On top of the 3 main winners, we will pick extra projects to be published online as "special jury prizes".

SUBMISSION FEE :

A payment of 10€ is required to upload your project. The money collected will help to cover the costs of the exhibitions. Any extra profit will be used for Safelight Paper's growth and to help cover the magazine's costs. No extra printing costs will be required. We are not covering for flights/accommodations for any of the winners.
