Every year since 2011, the Maison Blanche Award has rewarded emerging photographer-authors in the field of contemporary photography.

Overview

As part of the fourteenth edition of the Photo Marseille Festival, the association Les Asso(s), organizer of the festival, Maison Blanche - City Hall of the 9th and 10th arrondissements of Marseille, and the Le Bec en l'air editions are launching a call for applications for the Maison Blanche Award 2024.

Following this call for applications, a jury will designate the laureates. The top 5 laureates, including the first prize winner, will be exhibited at Maison Blanche from October 17 to November 24, 2024. The work of the first prize winner will be subject to publication and will join the Maison Blanche Award collection at Le Bec en l'air editions. Eight other laureates will have their works presented during the opening night of the Maison Blanche Award in the form of a projection.

Practical Info

Photographer-authors of all nationalities and ages can apply. A jury composed of photography professionals will designate the laureates. For reference, the 2023 jury comprised: Emmanuelle Hascoët (National Library of France), Fabienne Pavia (Le Bec en l'air editions), Nicolas Misery (Director of the Museums of Marseille), Orianne Ciantar Olive (photographer and laureate of the 2023 Maison Blanche Award), and Christophe Asso (director of the Photo Marseille festival). Selection of submissions will take place in May-June 2024, with results announced in July 2024.

Applications must include a PDF document containing a CV, a series of 20 to 50 photographs, and a text explaining the approach.

About Photo Marseille

The Photo Marseille festival is the first event entirely dedicated to contemporary photography in Marseille. Since its inception in 2011, the festival has focused on discovering young talents, notably through the Maison Blanche Prize, and highlighting recognized photographers from the international contemporary scene (Martin Parr, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Robert Frank, Stephen Shore) and the national scene since 2015 (Franck Pourcel, André Mérian, Geoffroy Mathieu, Monique Deregibus, Yohanne Lamoulère, Camille Fallet, Eric Bourret). The event thus bridges the gap between the history of photography and its current practices through exhibitions and educational activities for the public (guided tours, workshops, conferences).
