PHotoESPAÑA Best Photography Book Of The Year Award

In its 28th edition, the award will honor the best publications published between March 1, 2024 and March 1, 2025, in four categories.

Overview

Once again this year, PHotoESPAÑA is launching this award that recognizes the work of the publishing industry in the dissemination of photography. Since 1998, the Best Photography Book of the Year Award has honored exceptional publications in the field of photography.

Practical Info

Authors and publishers of all nationalities are eligible to participate, provided they submit photography books published between March 1, 2024, and March 1, 2025. Submissions must be sent through the online registration form. Upon completion of the online registration, applicants must print the form received by email and send it, along with two copies of each publication entered in the competition, to the following address: Best Photography Book of the Year Award, C/ Verónica, 13, 28014 Madrid, Spain.

Authors and publishers may apply to one of four categories. Research: for books that recover significant archives or present a new approach or re-reading of works by great masters of photography. Theoretical essays on photography also compete in this category. Creation: this category is for books in which authors present personal work and where the conceptual and narrative approach prevails. Bibliophilia: for books that stand out for their original edition, whether due to the special interest, beauty, and/or rarity of the format and material. First Publication: this category is for artists launching their first book of authorship.

The submission period will remain open until April 24, 2025. All submissions received by the closing date will be accepted. Participants are responsible for paying the full cost of shipping and ensuring delivery to the address provided.

A curatorial team composed of publishing professionals will select the finalist books, which will be included in the Best Photography Books of the Year exhibition, part of the Official Section of PHE 25.

Books selected for the exhibition will not be returned. Unselected books can be collected from the PHotoESPAÑA offices in Madrid from the announcement of the shortlisted books until May 15, 2025. After this period, the publications will be donated to libraries and/or cultural centers, where they will become part of their collections.
