The Arab Documentary Photography Program invites photographers from the Arab region to apply for its 2026 cycle, offering grants worth $7,000 each, mentorship, and workshops to develop documentary projects.
Overview
The Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP), a collaboration between the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), the Prince Claus Fund, and the Magnum Foundation, has announced its 2026 open call. Since its launch in 2014, the program has supported more than 120 photographers from across the Arab region, fostering powerful visual narratives that challenge stereotypes and highlight underrepresented perspectives.
Now entering its twelfth cycle, the ADPP invites photographers from and working in the Arab region to apply for grants that will help them develop or complete compelling documentary projects. The program provides up to 8 photographers with a $7,000 grant to work on their projects in their country of residence over a period of 10 month, along with mentorship and mandatory participation in three intensive workshops – two held in person and one online.
Practical Info
The Program is open to photographers from and working within the Arab region. Applicants who have been displaced from their home countries since 2012 due to political unrest are also eligible, provided their proposed projects remain connected to the region.
It welcomes a broad range of documentary approaches, encouraging both traditional and experimental narratives that may incorporate photography alongside audio or video elements. Submissions should consist of 10-20 images from the initial stages of proposed project and materials from any single body of work that demonstrates the applicant’s ability as a photographer and a visual storyteller.
Applications must be submitted through the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture’s online platform. The deadline is December 10, 2025, at 5 p.m. Beirut time (GMT+2). All proposals will be reviewed by an independent selection committee composed of artists and experts from across the Arab region and beyond.
About ADPP
Launched in 2014, the Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP) is supporting photographers whose creative approaches to visual storytelling challenge conventional narratives about the Arab region. The program continues to strengthen documentary photography as a creative and socially engaged practice in the Arab region, offering both financial support and a vital platform for reflection, exchange, and visibility.
