Selected photographers will be part of an exhibition at Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, in late November 2026.
Overview
Fotografisk Center and the collective Foto Studio have announced an open call for the 2026 edition of the annual exhibition Young Danish Photography. This exhibition has been a staple since 1998, focused on showcasing emerging talents and new trends within the Danish photographic art scene. For the first time, the exhibition participants will be selected through an open call process rather than direct invitation.
The term "young" refers to the artist's practice rather than age, while "Danish" signifies a connection to Denmark, Greenland, or the Faroe Islands. The call is open to visual artists and photographers whose work involves photography in various forms, and there is no specific thematic restriction for the current edition.
Practical Info
Applicants should submit a single PDF document, not exceeding seven pages in total, comprising their portfolio, a brief project statement, and a CV. The portfolio section should span no more than five pages and feature one to two projects, with each work clearly labeled with its title, year, dimensions, and medium; for video-based works, a direct link to Vimeo must be included.
The jury and selection process are managed by Fotografisk Center in collaboration with Foto Studio, which consists of visual artists Tine Bek, Paula Duvå, and Mads Holm. They expect to select between 6 and 12 participants.
Selected artists will receive a fee based on the rates set by the Danish Visual Artists' Association (BKF) for group exhibitions. Fotografisk Center will also handle the insurance and transport of works within Denmark. The final exhibition is scheduled to open at Fotografisk Center in late November 2026.
About Fotografisk Center
Kunsthallen Fotografisk Center is located in the historic Kødbyen district in Vesterbro, Copenhagen, and was founded as an association in 1996 by the City of Copenhagen and Kulturby '96 to promote art photography in Denmark. The art hall's primary activity is to disseminate and create new knowledge, as well as to discuss the significance of the photographic medium in both contemporary art and photographic image culture. This is done through a diverse exhibition program, publications, research, a bookshop, external collaborative projects, and artist talks, seminars, and book launches.
