The FE + SK Book Award 2026 offers photographers the chance to publish their photobook with Skinnerboox, printed in 500 copies, and debut it at Fotografia Europea in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
Overview
The photo-book competition is organized by Fotografia Europea together with the independent publishing house Skinnerboox. Fotografia Europea is one of Italy’s key festivals dedicated to contemporary photography, each year structured around a thematic concept. The new edition centers on the idea of Fantasmi del Quotidiano (Ghosts Of The Moment), exploring the subtle presences and traces that shape everyday life.
Practical Info
Open to photographers, curators, and collectives from Europe or Europe-based, the award seeks compelling photographic projects or book dummies, whether fully designed or still in a developmental stage. Applicants are invited to submit their work in the form of a PDF.
The selected project will be printed in an edition of 500 copies. It will be officially presented during the opening days of the Fotografia Europea 2026 festival, which will take place in Reggio Emilia, Italy, between 30 April and 14 June 2026.
About Fotografia Europea
Fotografia Europea is an international cultural festival dedicated to contemporary photography. The festival, created in 2006, is promoted by the Fondazione Palazzo Magnani and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and it won Photo Festival of the Year at the Lucie Awards 2022 in New York.
Fotografia Europea uses photography as a tool to reflect upon the complexity of the contemporary living following the lesson of the local photographer Luigi Ghirri, a prominent figure in the late ‘900s photography’s renewal, whose archive is stored in the city. The festival takes place in different locations of the city, both public and private, formal and informal, and it consists of a central core of exhibitions among which new ad hoc commissioned productions, related to a specific theme identified every year by the Scientific Committee. The exhibitions are accompanied by a rich program of events, conferences, screenings, workshops, portfolio reviews and site specific performances.

Skinnerboox is an independent Italian publishing house founded in 2014 that focuses on contemporary photography. It collaborates with artists and designers to produce innovative books that promote contemporary photography practices worldwide.
