Bold and Talented - Open Call for Curators

Open Call for four young curators to participate in the second edition of our "Bold and Talented" Programme! Enter for a chance to curate an exhibition in May 2026, and receive mentorship, workshops from industry experts, and a grant of 500 CHF!

Overview

Fotofestival Lenzburg is excited to launch an Open Call for Curators to take part in the "Bold and Talented" Programme

Four young curators will be selected by the Curatorial Team of the Festival to realise an exhibition of photographic works in the main line-up of the 7. edition of Fotofestival Lenzburg (end of May 2026). The curators will receive mentorship, workshops from industry experts, and a grant of 500 CHF to accommodate personal expenses and to cover travelling costs.

The goal of the “Bold and Talented” Programme is to scout and select four talented young curators who stand out for their curatorial vision and their interpretation of the theme which gives this edition of the Festival its name: “Forever Happy.” These four young curators will work under the mentorship of the Festival curatorial team in selecting four photographers and will realise an original exhibition each for the next edition of the Festival, producing the photographers’ work and scenography. Find more about our theme, here.

Fotofestival Lenzburg aims to foster dialogue around photography and to give young photographers a platform of national and international relevance to showcase their work and their skills as image-makers. This fundamental value is at the core of launching a new edition of the “Bold and Talented” Programme; a project supported by the BAT Foundation.

Practical Info

The Open Call will close on June 10, 2025, at 23.59 CEST. It is free to enter and applications will be mainly assessed based on the originality of your interpretation of the theme and on your previous experience.

To apply we kindly ask that you prepare:

  • A curriculum that includes relevant subjects such as photography, curatorship, scenography, or architecture.

  • A recommendation from a university tutor or curatorial mentor in a related field

  • A brief initial interpretation of the theme

  • A portfolio of completed projects, if applicable.

Two introductory workshops are planned at the end of June 2025 (online) and September 2025 (in person), with the bulk of the research for the artists occurring in this period. The curation of the exhibition will take place chiefly between November 2025 and April 2026, with the installation scheduled in May 2026. Please ensure that you will have enough time to accommodate this schedule before applying.
