2026 Lucie Foundation Photo Book Prize

The Lucie Foundation is dedicated to celebrating all forms of photography, offering three photo book prizes open to photographers, publishers, and curators, all totalling $7,000.

Overview

The Lucie Foundation Photo Book Prize is a juried competition dedicated to celebrating the most innovative and compelling photographic books published in a given year. This program is open to a diverse range of book submissions, from major publishing houses, to an artist’s first hand made zine, all forms and representations of photography books are welcome.

Practical Info

The Lucie Foundation Photo Book Prize awards one cash prizes to publishers and two to photographers. The Book Of The Year Prize will be awarded to the publisher, this category represents the best overall book of the year. The First Book Prize is awarded to the first iteration of a photographer's work in a book medium. The Self-Published Prize is awarded exclusively to entrants who submit self-published and handmade books.

Photographers, editors, publishers, and curators are all welcome to submit their books. Eligible books range from exhibition catalogues, self-published, limited edition, multi-artist, single-author, zine, reissue and much more. There are no geographic restrictions for those interested in applying, however projects featured must have been initiated between September 2024 and September 2026.

The jury consisting of visual directors, curators, creative directors, editors, and photography critics, will take part in recognizing and rewarding deserving photographers, and publishers who share the passion of making incredible imagery through the photo book medium. They include Yumi Goto, Lele Saveri, Emmanuel Iduma, Eleni Mouzakiti, Jamel Shabazz, Mónica Aguilar Villamarín, Elizabeth Krist, Paul Baldonado, Martin Schoeller, Merve Arkunlar.
