This series explores the human inclination to create a sense of home, particularly within landscapes that exist outside the metropolitan ideal. It reflects on the determination required to establish a dwelling—often an imperfect, evolving process—within places shaped by low density, resilience, and personal histories.
Drawing on childhood memories of his parents building their home and his own ongoing experience of shaping a living space, the artist examines how notions of connection and place are redefined in non-metropolitan settings. An Unfinished House Has Many Views also speaks to the broader realities of seeking and securing a home in today’s housing crisis, where aspirations of residence are increasingly challenged. Through memory, humor, and speculation, the project invites viewers to reconsider the value of these spaces—those that do not conform to, nor aspire to, the urban condition, yet hold profound meaning in the search for belonging.
