Steven Natusch (*1993), born in Berlin, Germany, is a photographer and artist who lives and works in Dortmund, Ruhr Area. He is currently studying photography (BA) at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Dortmund. In his work, he seeks to use photographic images as a visual-lyrical language that negotiates primarily emotional states, existential questions, and elemental experiences. In his photographs, which are usually neither time nor place bound, his work moves non-linearly through imaginative worlds and attempts to create clusters of contradictions. Using associative imagery, he targets the viewer's subconscious perception to create an individual link to his or her own world of thought. Guided by uncertainty, the question arises again and again under which conditions the author needs his images to process experiences and emotions and in which relationship the recipient relates to what he sees. His photographic works have been shown among others at the Rencontres d'Arles, the Biennale of Contemporary Arts Dortmund and the Künstlerhaus Dortmund. He was nominated for the Portfolio Prize of the Imago Lisboa Photo Festival 2021 and is currently nominated for the Kassel Dummy Award 2022. Stevens 2020 self published book “Asking for the Sun” was already exhibited in Denmark, Turkey, Ireland, Italy, Spain and will be furthermore shown in Australia, Singapore, Hongkong, Croatia and Germany.
