New generations are surrounded endless stimulus. This series is a documentation of learning how to feel and sense. Learn how to be in the present. Based on my practice as a psychologist.
I am Lichtner Dorina, psychologist. I started this series as a diary of my experience of minfulness practices.
"In a rapidly changing world, we find ourselves immersed in an escalating agitation, the foundational experiences of our 'chronic multitasking' lifestyle. It's as though there are two modes of operation: fast and faster. With time pressuring us to this extent, amidst this rush, we seek a form of relaxation and rejuvenation that promises immediate gratification. Consequently, relaxation has transformed into a consumable product in our daily lives, something we can purchase.
The concept of rumination refers to an emotional regulation mindset in which distress-associated thoughts and memories resurface repeatedly in an individual. During these recurring thoughts, the person passively relives negative events that have happened to them or the potential consequences of these events. Consequently, negative emotions can intensify as a result of this repetitive rumination.
According to the 'broaden and build' model, negative emotions narrow our focus, behavior, and responses to problems, constricting our thought content, perceptions of potential consequences, and decision-making abilities. Conversely, the presence of positive emotions can broaden our focus, open up our thoughts, and help us break free from the barriers of negative emotions.
When constructing memories, pay attention to your surroundings and the sounds you hear. What do you see, and which details do you isolate? Try to notice and remember as many details and characteristics as possible. The goal of this practice is to create a detailed memory of the moment surrounding you. Paradoxically, the active focus and the process of creating a detailed memory from the characteristics of the present help in experiencing the here and now actively."
