Mental processes are, for the most part, unconscious. The conscious is only the tip of an iceberg, a small island of consciousness in the vast ocean of the unconscious. (Sigmund Freud)
"...Mental processes are, for the most part, unconscious. The conscious is only the tip of an iceberg, a small island of consciousness in the vast ocean of the unconscious."
-Sigmunt Freud
According to Freud, the unconscious is a vast unexplored space where all our traumas, repressed thoughts and impulses are located.
This metaphor, highlights the idea that much of our mental activity occurs beneath our awareness, with consciousness representing only a small fraction of our overall mental processes. Like an iceberg, where the visible tip is tiny compared to the submerged bulk, our conscious thoughts and feelings are just a small part of a vast unconscious mind that influences our behavior, decisions, and experiences in profound ways.
This series is an attempt to visualize all those thoughts, impulses, fears, insecurities and anxieties, that are beneath the surface, within the unconscious mind. Childhood emotional wounds that we carry with us into adulthood and they affect our behaviour today.
