The World Of Rukmani Amma

Kilasevalpatti is a small village near Karaikudi , India . In those days Male from every family in this area used to travel Burma , Singapore , Malaysia, Srilanka to earn. Taking reference from each places, materials from various places were brought and built these Houses. In those days joint family culture was there and large number of people used to live in this house, days passed people who lived here settled in various countries and the death of some elderly people reduced the family members living here and now in one of such house the owner Rukmani Amma lives alone with her servant maid who used to take care of Rukmani Amma and cook for her. The old Rukmani Amma to kill her time spends the time with the servant maid and when the servant maid is busy making foods, Rukmani Amma plays the Snake & Ladder alone.

When I was there making this project I saw such a happy face in Rukmani Amma and she had the hospitality quality to feed me with some biscuits.

This raises lot of questions in me and in a country like India where 50 percent of the people doesn't even own a single house.I don't know where this imbalance gets created with lot of questions and thoughts i did this project and while editing the photos i realised that in my native ,My own House is locked and Nobody is there.
