The Universal Minutiae

The Universal Minutiae is my debut photography project, born from a search of candid authenticity in the generic daily moments. It explores the thin thread of actions that we all do, but are framed by our environment.

Walking, Waiting, Watching. These are all actions that we perform universally in our daily lives, regardless of our culture, but enriched by who we are. Generic, but unique in every setting.

I started The Universal Minutiae in 2024 when I started traveling frequently for work. Being in a new city frequently could sometimes feel lonely and alienating. Trying to look for connection from social media would drive me further apart, as the curated algorithms and manufactured personas we all show in them just made me feel even more isolated. This is why, instead, I begun noting everyone around me, and started feeling a sense of connection with all the other strangers who I happened to cross paths with.

Sometimes, we would all share a memory that we never expected. My first triptych from Rome came and went in just a couple minutes, and as the planes flew by, I heard groups around me equally confused, surprised and delighted at what came and went. Other times, like in Bangkok, it's even faster, as quick as watching someone on the street while on a moped, one of the many in the capital also known as city of (two-wheeled?) angels, Krung Thep. Hundreds of thousands of glances on the busy traffic, each driving or waiting for their own next place.

Regardless of whether you are overlooking the Mar del Plata or down your flat in Belgrade, even if you might never speak or get along with each other's opinions, there is something fundamental about the beauty of the quiet moments we all carry.
