The photographs visualize the integration of inner aspects. Yellow and blue symbolize the animus (masculinity) and gradually transform into green, representing psychic harmony and the process of individuation.
This project explores the process of individuation in Carl Gustav Jung’s analytical psychology through photography. According to Jung, the human psyche contains a dimension beyond the ego, referred to as the Self, and the journey toward it unfolds through the integration of the unconscious. In this process, the animus in women and the anima in men play a crucial role, functioning as archetypal figures that mediate between the conscious and the unconscious.
In Takako Noel’s work, yellow and blue symbolize the animus, or masculinity, while red and blue are used to represent femininity. The work also reflects visions experienced during the inner journey, with images that appeared in dreams and fantasies made visible through photography.
This project visualizes the process in which the subject engages in dialogue and integration with the inner yellow and blue. These colors gradually transform into green, and this transformation serves as a symbol of integration, expressing the dynamics of individuation through the transition of color.
