The Family Photos

The Family Photos reflects gender opposition events that frequently occur in childhood. Research shows children under eight have an alternate gender identity, meaning they do not entirely identify with their birth sex. In contrast, some people hold hatred and prejudice against others' gender and strongly disagree with sexual minorities from the age of childhood due to family effects. Gender misunderstanding and stereotypes were deeply rooted in their minds.

Hanyi focuses on this theme in a mockumentary way by observing Chinese families with children. And found the compulsory interventions of parents narrow the gender perception of their children, facilitating stereotyping and sexist attitudes. Children living in such conditions often have difficulties reconciling with themselves and developing negative attitudes towards the other genders.
