The Clan

With a part poetry and a part science, The Clan attempts to bring us together in the polyphony of popular and scientific knowledge of the living world. The Clan explores a territory in the multiple approaches of the living and the inhabitants.

From 2020 to 2024, Benjamin Bechet traveled across the Vercors plateau, photographing the behavior of human beings with the natural environment and other living beings in the massif. Through its rocky insularity and geophysical constraints, the Vercors developed its cultural singularity in the relationships that its inhabitants maintain with the forest, game, and protected species.

The Clan questions the contemporary issues of conservation and exploitation of natural spaces and provides the means for deep perception of those who regularly frequent the natural environment.
