The fact and fiction of the American West are intertwined. Part legend, part regional narrative, the rodeo acts as a performance reenacting the conquering of the wild. Twisting these tropes, Taming Again unravels and rewrites these myths.
Taming Again references the fact that the animals in rodeos are not actually wild, but provoked (cruelly) to act wild once again all for the thrill of overcoming it. From the costume to the competition - it is all a performance. Highlighting the performances of both the cowboys and the broncs, an ambiguity is added to their authenticity - who is really acting? Often using rephototgraphy, the cyclical nature of this relationship is further stressed.
