Or how our need for self-representation is slowly killing us (and my desire to photograph people).
We live in images, nothing goes beyond the visible. Our lives accordingly curated for an invisible audience. Everything is documented, shared, liked and valued. Look, see? But what does it mean, this addiction for recognition? What do we get out of it, and similarly who profits?
As a photographer I feel like addressing the issue of self-representation, the compulsive unveiling of the (female) body. With the consent of my collaborator Julia Wolf I’m trying to uncover, through covering, the self-exposing aesthetics of todays fake presence.
More and more I feel the need to ‘protect’ model and myself, the photographer, these days from exploitative behaviour.
In addition I want to add that I do not use photoshop and simultaneously I don't pretend to 'depict' a some sort of photographic 'reality'.
