The Places We Inhabit explores the emotional imprint of homes left behind. Rooted in my experience of migration, it reflects on how places continue shaping identity long after we’ve left them.

The Places We Inhabit is an ongoing photographic project rooted in my own experience of leaving countries and building temporary homes. It focuses on the afterlife of those spaces, the apartments, streets, and landscapes that once held daily routines but now exist only through memory.

The work began after noticing how certain places continued to shape my sense of self long after I had left them. Instead of documenting geography, the project traces the emotional imprint of departure: the quiet disorientation of returning as a visitor, the shift from resident to outsider, and the slow realization that a place can move on without you.

Through this series, I question what it means to say “home” when that word no longer points to something stable.
