A visual exploration on the beauty, innocence and fragility of child's play.
The unreserved nature of children is beautifully reflected in the way they move and interact with their surroundings. When the mind isn’t yet fixed on predefined concepts, the world becomes a playful scene.
Through observation and documentation, I visually immerse myself in this temporary and beautiful state of being. It reminds me, as an adult, of my own surroundings—how I observe things, or how I don’t. I find this inspiring because of its precious, vulnerable, and fleeting nature—one that is gradually shaped and constrained by social codes and structures. It also makes me realize how vulnerable this state is—and how important the role as an adult is in protecting and supporting (my) children in their curiosity, creativity, and openness.
“ Ik ben een regenmens, regenmensen zijn mensen die goed naakt in de regen kunnen staan.” I’m a rain person, rain people are people who easily can stand naked in the rain.” – Ellie (4), 2024
