"Proof of Existence" by Rona Bar & Ofek Avshalom emerges as a profound meditation on theinterplay between memory, identity, and the ephemeral nature of human experience. Through a series of evocative photographs, the project captures moments that, while fleeting, are imbued with deep significance. Each image serves as a testament to the transient yet impactful instances that define our existence. The project's title itself, "Proof of Existence," suggests a quest for validation—a desire to affirm one's presence in a world that often overlooks the individual. This theme resonates throughout the photographic series, where subjects are portrayed in candid, unguarded moments, emphasizing authenticity over artifice.

The use of landscape and still life images further accentuates the dichotomy between presenceand absence, highlighting the delicate balance between being seen and remaining unseen, and raising questions regarding the characters' identities and stories.

In a broader context, "Proof of Existence" challenges viewers to reflect on their own narratives and the moments that constitute their personal histories. It invites contemplation on the ways in which we seek to leave our mark, to be remembered, and to assert our individuality amidst the collective human experience.

About The Process -

The creation of each character involved drawing inspiration from various elements. While some parts were pure products of our imagination, our team's collaborative efforts made it possible to bring our vision to life. Our talented makeup artist Elle McMahon crafted distinctive and bold makeup looks, while our creative stylist Bessy Huang worked closely with young and emerging designers from London to create the fantasy world of our dreams.

Other parts of the characters are heavily influenced by the models. While working with Zebedee Talent Agency, an agency that represents people with disabilities and visual differences, we had an opportunity to include the most unique and beautiful people who made this project even more special and authentic to its message. The scenes are a blend of surrealism and reality - Hannah is dressed in an outfit resembling an armchair, positioned in front of a large mansion, while also holding her own wig and cane. Myah is wearing their own design and placed at the iconic London neighborhood "The Barbican", their design is inspired by the conflict between their religious upbringing and their queer identity. Meanwhile, Diogo is portrayed in his drag character, 'Co Kendra,' captured in his own home.

The creation process of this project allowed us freedom, being a true embodiment of creativity and self-expression. These characters fearlessly showcase their unique identities and break free from societal norms and expectations. We hope their willingness to challenge the status quo inspires you to tap into the boundless potential of your own human spirit for creative expression and individuality.
