Perhaps of Ritual Significance

In Perhaps of Rituals Significance, I examine folklore artifacts. The work centre’s around the fear of the unknown.

I work with photographic and sculptural installations that centers around mythologies, rituals and the tactile materiality of objects. In my work I investigate the notion of human interactions with objects and their surroundings, primarily focusing upon the theory of animism.

In Perhaps of Ritual Significance, I visually examine folklore artifacts. The work centres around the fear of the unknown, researching rites and customs that have been forgotten. I have visited and documented sites in connection to these myths, such as the only known werewolf grave in Europe and places thought to be used to ritualistically transform humans into animals. I recreate objects and reenact different rites in my studio, creating my own physical and fictitious archive around this subject, primarily through using photography. The objects created are entangled with both historical and personal meanings, not always fully articulated to the viewer.
