L'incontro a tavola

This project is a documentary about the Sicilian culture of food. The Sicilian culture is a tradition of mixing different cultural influences, which are still alive today.

The smells of the food bring back memories of people, places and also the parents and grandparents who passed on the recipes. And besides the tradition of the dishes: Food connects people – the common meal at the table has always brought people together and still: it's an old need to maintain the exchange between people to survive, to learn from each other and to enjoy food together.

The whole story was created together with berlin-based illustrator Josephine Raab and self-published as a little book in summer of 2019. The book combines the illustrations by Josephine Raab – which outline the production process – and my photographic portraits.
