Last Night We Both Had the Same Dream (that the tree went missing), is an exploration into the fragile connection between the landscape and family relationships. This poetic landscape is both stranger and friend and so much part of my life’s narrative. The melancholy in the of shared loss of a much-loved ancient tree and the burning of the gorse in the New Forest becomes biblical. My mother feels at peace in natures space which is fundamental to who she is. She is part of the soil, arms wrapped around trees with dirt under her fingernails. We are connected by the paths we once shared, as mother and child and as women. When my mother dies, I will not return to these spaces of love and loss again.
