Intermezzo

"Intermezzo" explore transitional spaces where human traces and nature coexist in uncertainty. Through revealing the poetry of the unnoticed. These marginal places hold memory and possibility.

"Intemezzo" explores transitional spaces, places that seem suspended in time, caught in an intermezzo between what they once were and what they might become. I seek to capture fragments of the landscape where human traces coexist with uncertainty, where the residual, the unnoticed, and the seemingly banal take on a new presence. Far from monumental landmarks or postcard-perfect scenes, I focus on constantly shifting environments where architecture and nature engage in a silent yet tense dialogue.

Through photography, I do not merely document these spaces—I transform them into landscapes. The image becomes a mediation that redefines the everyday, allowing what often goes unnoticed to acquire a new aesthetic and symbolic dimension. I am interested in the power of vision to construct, to reveal hidden layers of meaning in what might appear as mere emptiness or abandoned places.

These marginal, interstitial spaces—forgotten by planned development—are not just urban remnants or vacant lots; they are reservoirs of memory, biodiversity, and possibility. They are territories where life continues spontaneously, beyond human control and design. In them, I find a form of resistance, a testament to what endures and to what may emerge beyond the constraints of urban planning.

I invite a pause in these suspended landscapes, encouraging the discovery of their latent poetic potential and a reconsideration of how we inhabit and represent space. In these territorial margins, I find a more honest truth—less spectacular, yet deeply revealing—a different way of seeing the spaces that surround us. It resonates with the idea that marginal or transitional spaces are not just empty gaps but are rich with latent potential and ecological memory—a key concept in the notion of the "third landscape."

"intermezzo" project is a journey into the essence of transitional spaces—those in-between places that exist in a kind of poetic pause, neither fully belonging to the past nor entirely shaped by the future. I see them as silent witnesses to memory, biodiversity, and unrealized potential. Inspired by the beauty of the overlooked and the abandoned, I aim to reimagine these forgotten landscapes, revealing their hidden vibrancy. Through my lens, the everyday transforms into something new, inviting viewers to slow down and discover the delicate tensions where human presence meets nature’s quiet resilience.
