Recognizing the difficulty and emotional heaviness of the memory management process, I used a playful approach early on to relate to my archive.
From 2018 until now I have been collecting archival material of my family and strangers.
Since then, I have started to question the past of my family, my origins, and the past and provenance of the archival material of strangers.
I voluntarily decided to deal with the past of dear and unknown people.
As I recognize the difficult and emotionally heavy process of dealing with memories, I approached the material from the outset in a playful way. I dedicated real playful moments to relating to all this material.
This approach has been crucial: it has allowed me to process the memories and resurrect a lighter interpretation of them, or as for children a more ‘naive’ vision; almost completely discharging the visual memories of their emotional heaviness.
Researching, processing, constructing and playing with the archive at my disposal in order to restore a simplified view of the past.
