Often I find myself dreaming. I run toward a future that is saturated with nostalgia, but it is a nostalgia I have never laid down upon. There is no real memory here. I have never met her.

Using the ethnicity as history, I study the cultures of my people in its astonishing depth and breadth, to inform work on a new generation of the Asian experience. My incessant and undying yearn for community will drive me to locate it in this place I now must call home, and I will seek out these people in a reach to redefine what it means to belong. I photograph Asian families in their homes, their sacred spaces, and engage in a visual dialogue that translates years of loss, preservation and triumph, into an image of strength, understanding and inevitable presence.

This work is about nourishment and nurture - a building of worlds around us the way we see fit. It is pure, unbridled, uninterrupted utopia. It is a space that feels infinite not because it is vast or wide or neverending, but because we are cradled beneath the blue of the sky inside hands of which we were refused. We stand on soft grass, because we are soft, and we look tenderly up toward the sun, our sun, because our gaze is strong and our will is stronger. The work is emotionally charged, but there is no urgency, for in this world, time is no longer collapsed. It indulges in the simple pleasure of peace, and celebrates togetherness using hope as an engine and each other as fuel.
