Homo Saurus

Homo Saurus is an ironic/critical project that stages a dystopian world based on the bizarre conspiracy theories about reptilians.

Conspiracy theories have garnered significant attention in recent years, likely fueled by economic crises and the rise of populism. Homo Saurus centers its investigation on one of the most enduring and fantastical of these theories: that of the reptilian humanoids.

According to conspiracy theorists, the Earth is secretly ruled by reptilian beings who disguise themselves as humans and manipulate our perception of history and global events. Ancient mythology and legends—combined with a growing collective desire for redemption—have once again paved the way for the creation of new myths, offering surreal explanations for the ascent of powerful figures.

Homo Saurus aims to reconstruct history through fictitious documents that "testify" to the rise of these humanoid reptiles, both on Earth and on their supposed home planet, Nibiru.

Believers in the theory describe reptilians as standing approximately 2.13 meters tall, with long, webbed arms and scaly skin. To appear human, they wear special suits that often malfunction, creating what is known as the "deflated balloon" effect. They can also be recognized by a trained eye due to the presence of the X-membrane—a structure that lines the central part of their pupils and enables hybrid vision, thanks to thermoreceptive cells known as helical rods. This allows them to detect the body heat of their human prey.

These creatures are said to be direct descendants of the Anunnaki, the reptilian deities of Sumerian mythology. Nibiru, the Anunnaki’s home planet and alleged tenth member of the solar system, was blamed for the Great Flood due to its powerful tidal forces. It is described as having distinctive pink, powdery sand.

According to the theory, the Anunnaki later came to Earth—then inhabited only by animals—in order to exploit its natural resources. To maximize productivity, they created humans in a laboratory as a workforce. Over time, the Anunnaki interbred with humans, resulting in a new species: Homo Saurus, or the reptilians. Today, this species is believed to remain in power, manipulating human thought and conducting secret experiments to preserve their dominance.

This work is the result of research initiated by Noemi in 2020, primarily through social media—considered a safe haven for conspiracists to exchange theories and information. The project employs mythological elements to craft ambiguous atmospheres that blur the line between reality and fiction. It adopts an encyclopedic gaze that, starting from a pseudo-scientific perspective, reimagines the present and future. Ultimately, Homo Saurus reflects a tendency inherent in hedonistic societies: the construction of myth and fabrication as a way of making sense of the world.
