From Ukraine to the Middle East, from war to war — my journey through two conflicts. Fleeing shelling in Ukraine, I found myself amid another war in Israel. This series is a personal visual diary exploring faith, fear, and the search for home.

From Ukraine to Israel, from war to war: my journey through a country

I fled here from the horror of shelling and war — only to find myself in the midst of another war.

I moved to Israel after experiencing the war in Ukraine, initially not planning to stay for long — just to rest. But I remained, as heavy shelling began again in Ukraine and during winter, electricity and heating were often cut off. My stay ended up lasting two years.

This photo project is an honest and intimate visual diary of life in Israel, seen through my personal experience as a refugee from Ukraine — someone who has lived through war and displacement. I explore the complex nature of Israeli society.

The series reflects a unique social landscape where Jews from around the world, Israeli Arabs, soldiers, Orthodox Jews, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of all religions, Palestinians, refugees, and migrants coexist in the same territory.

Through my lens, I explore themes of war, faith, sexuality, and patriotism — creating a multi-layered portrait of the country.

This work is not only a documentation of my life in Israel, but also a personal testimony of the search for home and belonging in times of global turmoil.
